Cornerstone Housing for Women Princeton Avenue
CSV provided full architectural services to Cornerstone Housing for Women for the renovation of a former convent on Princeton Avenue into their new 42-unit residence. Residents of this building are in transition requiring moderate support. Each individual suite provides the option for independent living with sleeping, living, cooking and eating space as well as bathrooms. The lower-level multi-purpose area provides social and amenity spaces served by a modified kitchen for teaching and light food preparation. The building also houses shared laundry, a community worker office, medical office, and a computer room. A new stair and lift were installed at the rear of the building to integrate the interior and exterior amenity spaces into a heathy social environment for residents.
Sustainable features
The selection of non-toxic low/no VOC off-gassing materials to create a healthy interior environment are amoung other important sustainable design features incorporated into the design.
