Campbellford Emergency Services Base

The Municipality of Trent Hills retained CSV to develop the functional program, schematic design and design build documents of a new emergency services base located in central Campbellford. The new station was designed to accommodate multiple programs including a fire station, a paramedic station, an emergency operation center and a new municipal space containing the Town Council Chambers.

This new emergency services base consists of separate one storey apparatus bays for Fire and EMS services and a two storey structure served by a passenger elevator containing the support, administrative and municipal spaces. This station was designed as a prominent municipal building and as a symbol of civic pride. The design incorporates a tower element as a symbolic reference to the tower of the historic fire hall. The new fire hall tower takes its place on the skyline with the towers of the Old Fire Station, Town Hall and various church steeples in the area.

Sustainable features

  • Although the client did not have a desire to pursue third party certification, CSV followed the principals of design for a LEED building.

  • Adaptable spaces shared between multiple services to reduce the amount of building space required and the carbon footprint of the municipality.
